Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Alpine Lake Systems LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) governing the Saint Today app and this website (together, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use the Service on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial devotional and educational use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
You agree not to, and not to permit others to: copy, redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, or create derivative works from the Service or its content except as permitted by law; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by applicable law; remove or alter any proprietary notices; or interfere with, probe, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its update mechanism, or our servers.
The app is free to download and includes an optional one-time in-app purchase (the “Full Version”) that unlocks additional features. Purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account; pricing, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms, and you can restore a prior purchase within the app.
Complimentary ministry access. In good faith, and in gratitude for their service to the Church, we offer the Full Version free of charge to Catholic clergy, religious, seminarians, catechists, parish and diocesan staff, and the students and educators of Catholic institutions, via single-use access codes issued by our support team. These codes are a gift: they are never sold, have no cash value, may not be resold or transferred, and may be revoked in cases of abuse. The only paid unlock of the Service is Apple’s in-app purchase; today’s saint remains free for everyone.
2. Content and ownership
The daily summaries and other written content in the Service are original works © Alpine Lake Systems LLC, prepared for personal devotion and learning. They follow the Church’s General Roman Calendar and Catholic tradition but are our own compositions and are not official texts of the Catholic Church. “Saint Today,” “Alpine Lake Systems,” and our logos are our marks.
Saint Today is an independent Catholic app. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Holy See, any diocese, or the official institutions of the Catholic Church. Nothing in the Service is an official statement of Church teaching; for authoritative texts, consult official Church sources.
3. Apple
The app is licensed, not sold. Your use is also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”); if these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, these Terms govern to the extent permitted. You and we acknowledge that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to furnish support or maintenance for it, and is not a party to these Terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
4. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the content is accurate, complete, or error-free, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or available. Any reliance on the Service is at your own risk.
5. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALPINE LAKE SYSTEMS LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (b) US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
6. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alpine Lake Systems LLC from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
7. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration provision below, the state and federal courts located in King County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to venue there.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of a recognized U.S. arbitration provider, rather than in court, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court or seek injunctive relief for misuse of the Service or intellectual property. You and we waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class or representative action. Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.
8. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms from time to time; the “Effective” date above shows the latest version, and your continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. You may stop using the Service and delete the app at any time.
9. General
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect and the unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
