The app

Saint Today does not ask for an account, sign-in, name, email, or any personal detail. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party marketing SDKs, and it does not access your contacts, location, photos, microphone, or camera.

Daily content updates

The app ships with a full year of content built in and works entirely offline. As a convenience, about once per day it briefly contacts our server (sainttoday.com) to see whether we’ve published any corrections or improvements to the daily entries, and if so downloads only those changes. If your device is offline or the check fails, nothing happens and the app keeps working normally — you are never notified and no data is queued about you.

To keep this update channel closed to everything except the genuine app, it is protected by Apple App Attest. App Attest lets the app prove to our server that it is an unmodified copy running on genuine Apple hardware, without identifying you. In the process the app sends our server an anonymous device key — a public cryptographic key generated on your device plus a usage counter. This key is random per installation, is not derived from and cannot be linked to your Apple ID, your name, your phone number, or any other personal identifier, and we use it for no purpose other than validating update requests. We do not build a profile, and we do not track you across time, apps, or the web.

As with any connection to any web server, our servers necessarily receive your device’s IP address for the moment needed to answer the request. We do not use it to identify you, we do not associate it with the anonymous device key, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. App Attest also involves Apple’s own DeviceCheck service; that interaction is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Alongside each update check the app reports a few coarse, non-identifying technical details — its app version, iOS version, device model (e.g. “iPhone15,2”), and your device’s language/region setting. We use these only in aggregate, associated with the anonymous device key and never with you, to understand which app versions and devices to support and where the app is popular. They are not combined with your IP address and are not used to identify, contact, or track anyone.

Usage analytics

To understand how the app is used and where to improve it, the app records anonymous, first-party usage analytics: how often it is opened, how long each session lasts, which screens are viewed, and which actions (such as Share or Search) are tapped. This is tied only to the anonymous device key — never to your name, email, IP address, or any advertising identifier — is sent only to our own servers (never to a third party such as Google or Facebook), and is used only in aggregate. You can turn it off any time from the app’s About screen (“Share anonymous usage”); turning it off stops all collection and clears anything pending on your device.

Contacting support

The app has no feedback or contact form and collects no message, name, or email from you. If you need help, you email support@alpinelake.systems yourself, from your own mail app; anything you write is handled by ordinary email and used only to reply to you.

Information stored on your device

The app keeps a few non-personal items locally, using the operating system’s standard storage: your chosen reading mode (“Adults” or “Kids”), any downloaded content updates and a small marker of the latest update already received, and the anonymous App Attest key identifier described above. None of this leaves your device except the anonymous key material used for the update check, and all of it is removed if you delete the app.

The website (sainttoday.com)

The website collects nothing about your visit. We keep no visitor logs or counters, record no IP addresses, set no cookies, and run no analytics of any kind on the website.

Service providers

We rely on two providers to deliver the service, each under its own privacy terms: Apple (the App Store and App Attest) and Amazon Web Services (hosting for sainttoday.com). We do not share personal information with them for their own purposes, and there are no other third parties.

Children’s privacy

Saint Today is suitable for all ages. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. There are no ads, no third-party trackers, and no account; the anonymous device key and usage analytics are not personal information; and the app collects no name, email, or other personal detail at all — support is by email you send us directly.

Selling and sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone, for any purpose, and we never use it for advertising.

Security

Connections to our server use HTTPS, and the update channel is cryptographically restricted to the genuine app as described above. No system is perfectly secure, but because we hold no personal information, there is no personal data to expose.

Changes

If we change how the app or site handles information, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
